Rosanna Paula Froufe von Waldherr, is a Nova University's student who comes from Denmark.
Rosanna was born in a small village called Hirtsalls, because her father was a military, and so she used to move from one place to another, in countries such as Germany and Marrocco.
That is what makes her what she is today
She had always been much closer to her grandfather, mainly due to his active participations in the fight for human rights, and he used his influence and fame, as he was a well-known actor, to do so. The young, blonde, little girl beside him at his conferences was Rosanna, who slowly started to realise the importance of her grandfathers’ words. That changed her way of viewing things, and that is what makes her what she is today.
In her childhood, she passed through very difficult times
However, her childhood passed through very difficult times. Early on in her life, she came to Portugal to study at the German School, and it was around this time that her life started to become worse and worse. Her teachers didn’t like her, insulted her in front of her colleagues, she was physically and physiologically damaged by her colleagues, and threatened with death by some teachers if she told anything to her parents. What is most disturbing is that she never found out the reason why such things happened. She only had her happy moments during holidays, when she travelled with her father around the globe. Nonetheless, she had no alternative than return to Portugal, to the German School, which she still name as “Hell”.
When her best friend at school left, she felt even more terrified, because he was the one who defended her. Soon afterwards, her father realised something wasn’t right and took her to Vienna, to live with her grandfather in Germany, and, not long after that, she returned to a Portuguese School. But Rosanna was afraid of her colleagues and teachers and she stopped eating. She was only thirteen. So she went to Vienna, and for the next three years, her social life changed and she was then capable of making friends. However, her father got sick and she returned to Portugal to be close to him. This was to become her last trip to Portugal until today.
A smack in the face
No sooner had she felt integrated in a Portuguese school and in the university in Estoril, than her life took another turn for the worse again: her best friend died in a car accident and her cousin was stabbed in Ericeira and died in front of her. Rosanna no longer had the ability to study due to breakdowns and a recent lung illness, which had been diagnosed. She spent two months in the hospital and has been recovering since then.
Her refuge
I asked her about the good things in her life, such as her paintings. She told me that she catches her inspiration in photography, and paints mainly landscapes of the sea and African deserts.
Plans
For the future, she says “I learned that what matters is the present” and so she lives her life in baby steps, which is slowly returning to normal, hoping to enter at the University of Vienna, doing her best with her studies, and living there with her boyfriend, but always close to her father.
